Spring and Summer - Parent and Kid Program

At ALH’s Parent and Kid Program, parents study English at ANNE’S Language House and kids attend Day camps during weekdays. The program includes one-day trip each weekend to the world heritage sites such as Canadian Rockies and Drumheller Badlands. Homestay accommodation is included in this program and a parent and a kid can stay in one room with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where they have a rewarding experience.

Duration:

Spring Program:    March 18, 2017 - April 2, 2017 - One or Two weeks

Summer Program: July 8, 2017 - August 26, 2017 - One, Two or Three weeks

Participants:

One parent + One kid (6 - 13 years old)

Application deadlines:

Spring Program:    January 31, 2017

Summer Program: April 30, 2017

Accommodation:

Homestay accommodation (One room, 3 meals per day)

*Condominium rentals can be arranged at additional cost.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday:       Kid - Day Camps (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

                                   Parent - ALH General English (8:50 a.m. –  2:15 p.m.)

Saturday:                    One-day trip to the Canadian Rockies or Drumheller                     

Sunday:                       Free time / depart from Calgary for one week program

Program includes:

  • Application fees (ALH & Day camps)

  • General English 25 lessons for a parent

  • Day Camp fees for a kid

  • Homestay placement fee

  • Homestay accommodation fee (meals included)

  • Transit tickets (12 adult tickets and 12 youth tickets per week which cover 6 days)

  • Weekend trips

  • Airport receptions (2 ways)

1. Make the most of your experience in Calgary

Pre-arrival orientation

Meet a staff member on Skype for a pre-arrival orientation. A kind staff member gives you all the important information about the program, city, school, camps and accommodation and you will be ready to experience new things in Calgary. If you have any questions or concerns, you may ask during the pre-arrival orientation.

2. Improve English skills through English lessons     and Daycamps

ALH English lessons for parents

Our General English program gives students the opportunity to improve their all-around ability in English at any entry level. The program covers speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, naturally including grammar and vocabulary.

Day Camps for kids

Most participants in day camps are local Canadian kids. Your child makes new Canadian friends while enjoying activities offered by several daycamps.

3. Spectacular weekend trips

Canadian Rockies and Badlands

Calgary is surrounded by incomparable natural beauty and is a place where you can explore the magic of the Canadian Rockies or the mystery of the badlands. The program includes one weekend day-trip per week to those wonderful destinations. The trips are organized by ALH and parents and kids can go on a trip together

Lake Louise, Moraine Lake (summer only), and Banff National Park

The Canadian Rockies are a vast land – filled with inspiring scenery, dazzling peaks, lush alpine meadows, turquoise lakes, virgin forest, towering waterfalls and wildlife galore. Enjoy breathtaking views that Canadian Rockies have to offer!

Drumheller, Badland, Royal Tyrell Museum

There is nowhere quite like the Drumheller Valley! In the heart of the Canadian Badlands, the Drumheller offers visitors a unique combination of spectacular scenery and interesting things to do. Explore the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology's world-famous Dinosaur and enjoy the magnificent sites such as Horseshoe Canyon and the Hoodoos.

4. Suitable accommodation arrangements

Homestay / Condominium

The program includes Homestay accommodation to provide participants with real Canadian life. Condominium arrangements available at additional cost upon request. 

A parent and a kid stay in one room and breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. Our host families are high of quality and very warm and friendly. The Homestay program helps both the parent and kid experience a real Canadian life.
